This is another wild theory of mine, but I think it pretty much describes what Megaman Zero WOULD have been without Megaman X6 and beyond.
Going by the semi-bad ending in MMX5 with Zero dying and X having no memory of Zero afterwards...
X decided that one day the Elysium known as 'Neo Arcadia', his dream, founded with Ciel, needed more protection, thus the Generals were banded together. After a while, Ciel started to doubt X's judgement, and then left to form a resistance against X after witnessing terrible crimes no one would believe.
So of course the plot of the first two games isn't affected much, aside from there would BE no Cyber-Elf X, which would mean that the X we deal with would indeed be the real X and not just a copy.
This also affects the Omega Zero theory. I believe that by this plotline, Omega himself, as well as Cyber-Elves, would not exist. Weil could have gotten his hands on Zero's heavily damaged (and probably by then decaying body) and rebuilt him based off of the plans that were likely stolen from the Resistance during the Z1 raid. Weil would have warped the original Zero's mind into something similar of what we see in MMZ3.
This would also perfectly explain Zero's 'copy body'. Someone else, possibly Dr. Light himself, was building a new body for Zero and copying his original programming, but never finished, hence why Zero would have to remember events. It's also probably so the stress wouldn't be too great on him.
What do you all think? Would MMZ have been even more awesome if X6 and such never existed?
